I was merely trying to be objective, wanting to know more about the flip and to see if I could use existing technology that I have access to, instead of forking out yet more of my own money to do a similar job.

The reason I simply asked a question is because I am trying to "find out about it." I don't thumb my nose at any classroom tool, as it could be very useful in one person's learning environment but not in another. Just because I don't have a chalkboard in my room doesn't mean I do not realise that other teachers see it as an integral part of teaching.

This is about sharing and learning together not criticizing other people's lack of knowledge. If i knew the advantage of the smaller flip avi format I probably wouldn't have asked the question.

On another point, my school doesn't have kahootz and I have never used alice which I am downloading now to play with,( thanks for the tip), although it does appear to be pitched at middle years to high school, meaning I would have to do all the creation, which is against my idea of education, it's not about what i can do but what the children learn by using tools.

To say that everyone can "cash in" on the benefits is a little odd. There are many teachers who struggle to use email little alone upload video to voicethread or teachertube (and would never have heard of kahootz or alice). The flip may make it more achievable for some but certainly not all. What do you mean by the term "cash in" anyway?

Your toaster analogy is misplaced, lets see why. If you tried to make coffee with a toaster, it would clearly not work and not be covered under warranty. Yet a digital camera is designed to take limited video footage and would not get damaged in the process. To put it in perspective, how many mobile phones have cameras? We all know the quality doesn't measure up to a Nikon D200 but that hasn't stopped people from using them....

Technology doesn't have a special place in our lives, that's what people are for.....

Good night

Re: Flip Video Ultra Coming To Australia

you would use it because it records in AVI format which is much smaller than the format used by normal video cameras.
you can upload it into programs like kahootz and alice to use with young children in early years of schooling
before you thumb your nose at something new, find out about it
this has benefits that everyone can cash in on
as with the toaster, you don't make coffee in it
same with camcorder v flip video .... they each have their special place in our lives of technology

Re: Flip Video Ultra Coming To Australia

Just wanted to say that these are available in Australia through my company - more information at http://www.itmadesimple.com

They are great units and very easy to use.

Re: New Twitter Clone - Titter

Yeah thanks.

Re: New Twitter Clone - Titter

Very nice twitter parody !

Re: Aussie Store Selling Unlocked 3G iPhones

To all you assholes unlocking the iphones and costing reps their hard earned commissions, fuck you!!! Mike Arrington asked the same question on his blog recently about the new Flip Mino and compared it to a Canon SD750, which in his opinion offered more options.

The advantage as I see it is in the ease of use and simplicity. Take the video, plug it in and upload it straight to YouTube.

I will provide a more hands on review once I have a Flip to try, which hopefully will be in the next couple of weeks.

Regards Ross......

Re: Flip Video Ultra Coming To Australia

Hey,
Looks good, but why would you choose this over a digital still camera that has 640 resolution video? I am looking around for an easy way of catching video for young children in my prep class. Have you seen any alternatives?
Regards,
Bob

Re: New Twitter Clone - Titter

Thanks mate, got a bit bored with all the twitter talk and the fact that I can't use twirl.

Re: New Twitter Clone - Titter

Ha, pretty good
